The arc

Morning · region A is ready
New solve, scoped to region A

Run dialog → Region scope → add region A → Start solve. The result carries the sky-blue Region-scoped run banner with in-scope / excluded / pulled-in-by-pairing counts. Only A was solved; everything else waits.

Region A's plan becomes the durable baseline. Transcribe it into MediRoutes now — this region is done and dispatchable while the rest of the day is still unscheduled.

Re-solve → “Keep a region, expand the rest”

The toolbar's Re-solve — not New solve. Pin policy: Keep a region, expand the rest, then pick region A as the region to keep pinned. Two clarifications people get wrong:

① That region multiselect chooses what to keep, not what to solve — the re-solve always covers all regions. ② The fourth control, “Schedule the rest with partial-day”, defaults on: pinned region-A work keeps its committed schedule while everything newly solved is capped at the morning cutoff. Untick it to expand full-day.

Why the two halves use different buttons

New solve is the only entry point that can scope the solve to a region — so it starts the arc. Re-solve from baseline is the only one that can rebuild the day around a committed plan while re-importing fresh trips — so it finishes the arc. Using New solve for the expansion works only if nothing changed in MediRoutes since the morning; using Re-solve for the start is impossible (there's no baseline yet).

Commit before the expansion, always

The Re-solve replaces the date's pins from the committed baseline. Manual work you didn't commit — including region-A touch-ups — is dropped, with only a dialog warning between you and that loss.

Pairing can reach across the fence

A region-scoped solve pulls in out-of-region trips that are hard-paired to in-scope ones — that's the pulled-in-by-pairing count in the banner. Expect a few strays; they're keeping journeys whole.
