What it shows, top to bottom

What else comes with it. Hard-paired partners, quick-turn blocks, escort legs and stapled will-calls expand automatically, each with its reason. “Unassign one trip” routinely means three — read this section before anything else.
Hours-of-Service / shift violations — deliberately their own section, visually distinct from everything else.
Other constraint violations — space type, time windows, cutoffs.
Insertion preview — per-van stop counts and arrival deltas, computed by the same walk the apply will use, so the preview is the plan, not an estimate.

Don't confuse this validation with the Data page's data flags — that one questions the trip data at load time; this one questions your edit against the live schedule.

An invalid-but-forceable edit. Simulated view, mock data. The HOS section is deliberately its own block; the primary action has been replaced by Apply anyway, and a reason is mandatory. On a valid edit this same dialog just shows a green “no violations” strip and a plain Confirm.

The three outcomes

Valid → Confirm. Done.
Invalid but forceable → Apply anyway, recorded as a forced override with your name on it. Forced overrides surface in the amber audit banner and in the commit dialog's count — visible, permanent, attributed. That's the design: forcing is allowed, hiding it is not.
Not forceable — some violations (a wheelchair rider onto an ambulatory van) offer no override at all, and the backend would refuse regardless. If you're hunting for an Apply-anyway button that isn't there, this is why.

Every apply re-audits

After any edit the whole schedule is re-audited. A new violation that isn't covered by a recorded override rolls the entire batch back — the app would rather refuse your edit than let the schedule quietly go bad.

Reasons

Reason chips are filtered to the edit kind — an unassign shows unassign reasons. The rules:

A force requires a reason — the one place a reason is mandatory.
Ordinary edits can be tagged, and worklist rows can be tagged later at commit time. Untagged rows are a soft note at commit (“N changes have no reason tagged — you can commit anyway”), never a block.
Commit-time reason drafts are shared per-date — two schedulers tagging the same date see each other's work.

Why bother tagging

The reasons feed the date's Feedback page — the weekly evidence for what the solver keeps getting wrong. A tag costs two seconds; the alternative is re-arguing the same fix every week from memory.
