Build the day by hand — an empty schedule opens in the edit tools, no solver run.

The run dialog. Simulated view, mock data. When the date already has pins, retimes or splits, summary blocks with “Ignore … for this run” checkboxes appear between the partial-day card and the buttons; when it has a committed plan, a Re-solve from baseline button joins the list.

Partial-day vs full-day

The checkbox is on by default, and it should usually stay on.

Partial-day schedules each region's morning up to its configured cutoff; the afternoon is handed to live dispatch by design. The result view switches its headline to Morning coverage with a deployed / reserve / unused van split, an indigo banner explains that full-day totals will read low, and the ride-count chip at the right of the unassigned panel's toolbar opens the scope split: “Morning gap → live dispatch” (in scope and still unplaced, a real gap) versus “Deferred to live dispatch (afternoon, by design)” (past the cutoff, never attempted). The two always sum to the run's unassigned count.

The one paragraph a new scheduler needs

Judge a partial-day run by morning coverage, not by assignment %. A 97% morning with the afternoon deliberately deferred is a good schedule that reads as a bad percentage if you look at the wrong number.

Full-day: untick the box. Assignment % becomes the headline again. Use it when your team really is scheduling the whole day in advance.

Region scope

The run dialog's Region scope multi-select solves only the regions you pick — empty means all. The result carries a sky-blue Region-scoped run banner with in-scope / excluded / pulled-in-by-pairing counts. Two things to hold onto:

It exists on New solve only. A Re-solve from baseline always covers all regions — its region control is about which pins to keep, which is a different question.
It's the first half of the region-staging workflow — solve one region, commit it, expand later.

They are different tools, not a new-vs-old naming accident.

The short version: New solve = “solve more of the day on the data I already have, keeping what's pinned” — the tool for extending hand-built or region-staged work. Re-solve from baseline = “the day changed under me — pull fresh data and rebuild around what I committed” — the day-of re-import loop.

The Re-solve footgun

Because Re-solve replaces the date's pins from the committed baseline, any manual edit you have not committed is lost. The dialog warns you; commit first.

The Changes worklist works either way

Don't pick Re-solve just to get the transcription worklist — it's resolved per date, not per run. A plain New solve on a committed date still gives you a correct Changes list afterwards.

The three pin policies, in one line each

Keep everything committed — clean re-run holding the whole plan.
Keep everything except changed — the default when drift exists; day-of MediRoutes changes.
Keep a region, expand the rest — region-staged scheduling; you pick the region(s) whose committed work stays pinned.
