What is a day window?

A "day window" is a single row in the schedule editor: one day of the week with an on/off toggle, a start time, and an end time. Seven day windows (Sunday through Saturday) make up a weekly schedule. The scheduler uses these windows to know when a driver is available to take trips on a given vehicle.

The schedule editor

The editor shows seven rows, one per day. Each row has three parts:

Toggle — turns the day on or off. When off, the driver is not available that day.
Start time — when the driver's shift begins.
End time — when the driver's shift ends.

At the top of the editor, the bulk-edit toolbar lets you set multiple days at once instead of editing them one by one.

Pick a scope

Choose which days to affect: Weekdays (Monday through Friday), Weekends (Saturday and Sunday), or All Days (all seven).
Pick a preset

Choose a time range: Full Day (06:00 to 18:00), AM (06:00 to 12:00), PM (12:00 to 18:00), or Custom (you type your own start and end times).
Click Apply

All days in the selected scope are set to the chosen times and toggled on. Days outside the scope are not touched.

Tip

Use the bulk toolbar first to set the common pattern, then fine-tune individual days. For example: apply "Weekdays / Full Day," then adjust Friday to end at 14:00.

Overnight shifts

If you set an end time that is earlier than the start time, the system treats it as an overnight shift. For example, a window from 22:00 to 06:00 means the driver starts at 10 PM and finishes at 6 AM the next morning.

When this happens, a +1d tag appears next to the end time to make it clear the shift crosses midnight.

Where schedules appear

You will see weekly schedules in four places across the Fleet pages:

Fleet table — a one-line summary under each driver's name (e.g. "Mon - Fri · 06:00 - 14:00").
Vehicle detail sheet, Schedule tab — the full editable schedule for each driver assigned to the vehicle.
Driver detail sheet, Schedule tab — the driver's default schedule.
Create Roster Entry wizard — when assigning a driver to a vehicle, the schedule editor appears pre-filled with the driver's default.

Default vs. assignment schedule

This is the most important concept in fleet scheduling.

Every driver has a default schedule. This is the template you set in the driver's profile (or when creating the driver). It represents their general availability.

When you assign a driver to a vehicle, the system copies the default schedule into a new assignment schedule for that specific vehicle. From that moment on, the two schedules are independent.

They do not stay linked

Editing a driver's default schedule will not update their existing assignment schedules. And editing an assignment schedule will not change the driver's default. Each lives on its own after the initial copy.

This means:

If a driver works different hours on different vehicles, you can set each assignment schedule independently.
If you want to change a driver's hours everywhere, you need to update each assignment schedule individually (plus the default, for future assignments).
Updating the default before assigning a driver to a new vehicle ensures the new assignment starts with the right hours.

Editing an assignment schedule

Open the vehicle detail sheet and go to the Schedule tab. Each driver assigned to the vehicle appears as a collapsible section. Click the driver's name to expand it. The day-window editor opens inline with the same seven-row layout and bulk-edit toolbar described above. Make your changes and click Save.

Tip

If a driver has the same schedule on every vehicle, set the default first, then assign. You will not need to edit anything after the copy.
