What groups are for

Vehicle Groups let you tag vehicles with labels that match how you actually run your fleet. Maybe you split vehicles by dispatch zone (North, South, Downtown). Maybe you group them by shift pattern (AM fleet, PM fleet). Maybe you tag specialty vehicles separately (wheelchair vans, stretcher units). Groups are flexible -- use them however makes sense for your operation.

Once vehicles are grouped, the colored badges show up across the app, and you can filter the Fleet tab to see just one group at a time.

The Vehicle Groups tab

The Vehicle Groups tab on the Fleet page lists every group you've created. Each row shows:

Color -- a colored dot that identifies the group visually
Name -- the group's label
Description -- a short note about what the group is for
Region -- the operating region, if the group is region-specific
Vehicles -- how many vehicles belong to the group

Creating a group

Click Create Group to open the form.

Name the group

Pick something short and clear. "North Zone" or "PM Fleet" tells everyone what it means at a glance.
Add a description (optional)

A sentence or two explaining the grouping. Helpful for new team members who weren't around when the group was set up.
Choose a region (optional)

If this group maps to a specific operating region, select it here.
Pick a color

Use the color picker or type a hex code directly. This color becomes the badge that appears on vehicles in this group throughout the app.

Color tip

Choose colors that are easy to tell apart at a glance. If you already have a blue group and a green group, don't add a teal group -- go with orange or purple instead.

Editing and deleting groups

Click any row in the Vehicle Groups tab to open the group detail sheet. Toggle Edit to change the name, description, region, or color. To delete the group entirely, use the overflow menu (three dots) and choose Delete.

Deleting a group

Deleting a group removes the badge from all vehicles that belonged to it. The vehicles themselves are not affected -- they stay in your fleet, just without that group tag.

Assigning vehicles to groups

You don't assign vehicles from the group -- you assign groups from the vehicle. When creating or editing a vehicle, the Groups field is a multi-picker. Select up to 4 groups per vehicle.

Once assigned, the group's colored badge appears next to the vehicle in the Fleet table and the Vehicles table. Multiple groups show as multiple badges side by side.

Filtering by group

On the Fleet tab, the Group filter in the toolbar narrows the roster to vehicles in a specific group. This is the fastest way to see just your North Zone vehicles or just your wheelchair fleet, without scrolling through everyone.
